Engineers dredged the waterway to eleven metres, creating berthing for over 800 vessels and establishing the infrastructure for what would become one of the world's most concentrated yacht charter hubs. By 2010 the district had cemented its role as Dubai's signature leisure waterfront, hosting the annual yacht show and attracting superyacht traffic year-round. The canal feeds directly into the Arabian Gulf, allowing departures without lock delays. Operators now maintain fleets ranging from traditional wooden dhows to hundred-foot motor yachts equipped with flybridge sun decks, hull stabilisers for calm passage, and open-plan saloons. Sunset departures between October and April capitalise on the golden hour, when the glass facades of Marina 101 and Trident Grand Residence catch the low sun. Winter water temperatures hold steady at twenty-four degrees Celsius, while summer peaks approach thirty-one, creating year-round viability for marine tourism.

The marina's protected waters rarely see swells above half a metre, making the experience accessible even for passengers prone to motion sensitivity.
